Staff Spotlight: Sue Woodson
Welcome to our first staff spotlight! We wanted to start a series on the blog that allowed you to learn more about the people who work at Jefferson OB/GYN and take care of you when you visit our practice. For the first spotlight, we asked Sue Woodson, Jefferson OB/GYN’s certified nurse midwife, some questions about herself.
Q: Tell us about yourself!
Sue: I graduated from MCV in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in nursing and from UVA in 1991 with a master's degree in obstetrical critical care. I became a nurse midwife in 1996 though the Frontier School of Midwifery. During my career, I have worked in pediatrics, neurosurgery, ICU, outpatient surgery, and finally, ob/gyn for the past 37 years.
My husband and I have 7 children, most by blood and all by heart. Five are married and 2 are bachelors. We are expecting our 10th grandchild in June.
Q: When did you join Jefferson OB/GYN?
Sue: I enthusiastically joined Jefferson OB/GYN in May 2010.
Q: What’s your favorite part about your job?
Sue: My favorite part of my job is when I make a connection with a person who is anxious, and they come to trust me as an ally to address their fears and maximize their health.
Q: What is your most memorable moment at work?
Sue: Every time I take care of a woman whom I helped deliver as a baby.
Q: If Jefferson OB/GYN gave out staff superlatives, what would yours be?
Sue: Best southern accent!
