Medicaid
We accept Medicaid:
for all patient care delivered at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital as a result of required coverage
for newborn circumcisions performed at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital
for clinically appropriate follow-up care for patients treated at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital (as documented by a note from the physician on call)
when Medicaid is secondary to Medicare
We do not accept Medicaid in the office for any other than defined above. Medicaid patients in the office setting are self pay and required to sign the waiver.
Medicare Updates
If you switch to a Medicare replacement plan, please make sure we are in network prior to your visit. We participate in regular Medicare, but are NOT in network for many of the replacement plans.
Medicare and all major insurance companies have approved Ob Gyn doctors to bill for a new code. This code, 99459, is added to a visit when a pelvic exam is performed. This is a new change and can surprise patients, as it sometimes goes toward the deductible. Billing for this code is part of how we are paid for our services. It may start to show up on your statements. Please let us know if you have any questions.
