Staff Spotlight: Mammography Team
Our third staff spotlight features our mammography team, Alice (our mammography technologist) and Sarah (our patient coordinator)! Below, Alice and Sarah answer some questions about their backgrounds, what they enjoy about their jobs and more.
Q: Tell us about yourself!
Alice: “I graduated from the University of Virginia Radiology Program in 1978 and passed the Mammography State Boards in 1993. I worked at Kings Daughters Hospital in Staunton for 12 years and worked at MCV for 5 years. This is where I got into mammography. I set up the radiology/mammography program at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women and was there for 12 years. I worked in the Newport News Out Patient Center in Mammography for 4 years and MD Express Urgent Care for 5 years. I have a 21-year-old daughter, a sister and brother and 2 nephews. I enjoy gardening, hiking the beach and the mountains, cooking and baking.”
Sarah: “I moved to Virginia from Florida almost 10 years ago - mainly to be able to see my niece grow up. I have two felines: Samson & Chekov. My hobbies include 3XF (gym), my cats and planting stuff to see if it will grow. I worked in Chiropractic offices before moving to VA. Jefferson OBGYN has been my workplace since arriving. I have a BS in Business Admin from Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, NC... think pickles... yep, there is a pickle plant downtown.”
Q: When did you join Jefferson OB/GYN?
Alice: “I joined Jefferson 2 years ago working for On Site Mammography.”
Sarah: “October 2010, then moved to Mammography through Onsite in June 2018.”
Q: What’s your favorite part about your job?
Alice: “My favorite part of my job is I feel I make a difference in women's lives.”
Sarah: “I still get to see patients I remember from when I was at the front desk.”
Q: If Jefferson OB/GYN gave out staff superlatives, what would yours be?
Alice: “Most Improved, Most Organized and Most Dependable.”
Sarah: “Quiet or crazy about my cats.”
