5 Concerns You Don’t Have to Worry About with your OBGYN
We know going to see your OBGYN is a very personal experience. We want you to know that you don't have to be self-conscious when it comes to your body, any physical symptoms you may be experiencing, or the choices you make for yourself.
Our job is to support and care for women in all stages and seasons of life. Above all else, we want you to be comfortable and feel supported, safe, and taken care of.
If you’re on your period: This doesn't bother us AT ALL! We are OBGYNs and deal with periods every day. P.S. Do you know how much blood we see during deliveries? Periods are nothing in comparison.
Your hair situation: You do not need to be concerned about being shaved or waxed before seeing one of our OBGYNs. Body hair is completely normal and natural and it does not interfere with our doctors' ability to do their jobs. Our top priority is the health and wellness of our patients, and we respect each woman's grooming preferences.
Your sexual history: We recognize everyone has a different sexual palate, beliefs, and desires. We only ask to help better care for you.
Your choices for birth control: We know that many factors contribute to a woman's decision to go on birth control. Our job is to make sure our patients know the facts and feel supported in whichever decision they think is the best fit for them. For those who do wish to go on birth control, our goal is to find them the safest method that will be the best fit for their lifestyle. So, please feel free to bring any questions and/or concerns you have about birth control to your appointment, and don't be concerned about sharing your true preferences with your doctor.
Your questions: We want all our patients to know that there are no "dumb" or "bad" questions when it comes to your health! If you read, heard, or saw something and have questions, ask your doctor! Questions can even help our doctors provide better care, as they allow doctors to directly address patient concerns and provide more individualized healthcare. So, don't be afraid to approach any topic on your mind at your next appointment!
