Staff Spotlight: Dr. Evan Kraus
We are excited to announce that another doctor has joined our team - Dr. Evan Kraus! Dr. Kraus will began working with our patients in the hospital later this month and will start his office hours in August. We are looking forward to more of our patients getting to know and work with him.
Dr. Kraus is originally from Harrisonburg, Virginia, (though he spent his high school years in Kenya while his father, a general surgeon, was working at a mission hospital) and recently returned to Virginia for his new position with Jefferson OB/GYN.
Q. Tell us a little about your professional background.
Dr. Kraus: I attended UVa for undergrad and the Medical College of Virginia for medical school. I finished my OB/GYN residency at Wake Forest in June.
Q: What do you enjoy about being an OB/GYN and the job?
Dr. Kraus: I enjoy being an OB/GYN because it combines labor and delivery, surgery, and continuity of care in the office. I am honored to be entrusted by families to be the first hands receiving a new infant into the world. Surgery is immensely satisfying, as I am able to provide an immediate fix to a chronic or emergent problem. Surgically, I am most interested in minimally invasive approaches including robotic, laparoscopic, and vaginal surgery. The more intense experiences of surgery and labor and delivery are balanced by the office practice, where we get to take care of women through every stage of life.
Q: What brings you to Jefferson OB/GYN?
Dr. Kraus: I am excited to join Jefferson OB because of the opportunity to be a part of an established practice with experienced physicians. The stability of the practice is a testament to the positive work and patient care environment created by them. Jefferson OB/GYN is committed to keeping medical care personal, and I look forward to establishing long-term relationships with my patients.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Dr. Kraus: Outside of work, I can be found spending time with my wife and two daughters. I enjoy taking my wife to restaurants (a great perk of moving back to Charlottesville), attending UVA sports, and working on home improvement projects.
