Stretch marks occur in about 50% of pregnant women. They become less visible after pregnancy and no prophylactic skin treatment has proven effective. Swelling of the ankles is very common in late pregnancy due to the increased venous pressure in the legs. Increasing water intake, good support hose, avoiding soft drinks and avoiding salty foods will help with swelling. Breast tenderness and enlargement occur early in the pregnancy. Low back pain is common due to your pregnancy changing the center of gravity and curving of the spine with the enlarging uterus. Bathing in warm water, Tylenol and/or a heating pad may be helpful. |
